Will Others Good, 2026

Acrylic on Plexiglass, Fishing line, Plywood frame, Spray painted nightlight

Across history, portraiture has been used to solidify the importance and legacy of those who could afford it. In contemporary practice, it has shifted to showcase people of all kinds, creating a bridge to understanding the deep importance of human existence and connection with no relevance to societal hierarchy. My work challenges the mass production of artificially generated portraiture, which has altered the public perception of the visualization of self and each other as it lacks a humane perspective. I reintegrate soul into the portraits of my community that consists of family, friends, ex-partners, coworkers, and teachers whom I have formed unique and complex relationships with throughout my life. This body of work explores how I am not a single entity, but a kaleidoscope of the people who have formed me.

By painting onto layers of suspended plexiglass, the shadows of faces overlay and interact within the space, acting as they do in the walls of my mind. The web design that connects the portraits acts as a distorted timeline where in different viewing points, all of my community exists within the same spacetime continuum. The nightlight acts as a reminder to the intentions behind forming connections with others.
